Biography

Ashton was educated at Maesteg Comprehensive School, Cardiff University and Loughborough University, playing for Tondu (2013-14 four tries and one in cup; 2014-15 two tries), Bridgend (from 2014-15) and the Ospreys age grade. He was a replacement in Bridgend’s Welsh Cup win of 2015 and for Bridgend he scored one try (2014-15), nine tries and one in Welsh Cup (2015-16), two tries (2016-17), one try (2017-18). He was having a tremendous season in 2019-20 for Aberavon before Covid, but a broken jaw against Cardiff would have halted it. Her is 6 feet 2 inches in height and weighs in at 17 stones 8 lbs. He gained a Distinction MSc from Cardiff University and a Second Class, Upper Division BSc in Sport Management from Loughborough University. He is now a EMEA Group Product manager with Invacare Europe in scooters and walking aids at Pencoed. His earlier jobs include working for the WRU and being a marketing assistant with Swansea City FC. Ashton already has a Level 1 coaching qualification.
