Everyone at Aberavon RFC will be saddened to hear the news that our former prop forward, long serving treasurer, life member and club trustee Cliff David passed away yesterday aged 90.
Cliff first played for the Wizards back in the early 50’s which started a 70 year association with the club and before the pandemic struck rarely missed a home game.
He enjoyed a long teaching career becoming Headmaster at Dyffryn School, he possessed an outstanding memory of the many former pupils that passed through his time there as well as his fellow former players at Aberavon.
During his National Service in the RAF he played in many Inter Service games amongst players who would go onto gain international and British Lions caps such was the standard of those games.
Cliff was hugely respected in Port Talbot and afar, by his many friends, colleagues on and off the rugby field and ex pupils – he will be sadly missed.
Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Marion and their family.
