Statistics mean nothing where Ian is concerned. The word Talisman is often used, but Ian was such to Aberavon. He remains one of the greatest players in the history of the club though his highest honour was to wear the famous Barbarian jersey. He was a Wales under-16 cap and a Cwmavon product, but it was at Aberavon that he was beloved. He gave his heart to the team and captained the club for five seasons. He was a great leader of men and his try to save the Wizards from a relegation will live forever with those privileged to see it. He began in the back row but finished usually at lock. Aberavon player of the year four times. Buddha played his last game as captain in the Premiership Playoff Final at the Talbot Athletic Ground against Merthyr in 2017. A modern day legend for Aberavon Rugby Club.
