Lloyd played for Wales Youth in a loss to Romania at Waterton Cross in 1979 when he represented Bridgend Youth. Then came a FIRA game at Rhymney when Wales defeated Italy. In that one he packed alongside Craig (The Ripper) Hawkins. He certainly played in the 1998 World Youth Cup in France in wins over Japan and Romania. He made his club debut at Pontypridd on 12/9/1998. A splendid scrummager as he was never interested in getting out and running in the loose. He played for Maesteg, Aberavon, then three games for Pontypridd before returning to Aberavon and a spell in Ireland. He played 308 games for Aberavon with his 300th being a splendid 18-7 win over Pontypridd on January 2, 2012.
