Mike Lewis, playing at outside half – he was top scorer for Aberavon in seven separate seasons after joining the club from Cwmllynfell. At that point he was said to be aged 23. In two spells for Aberavon he scored 1,572 points (23 tries, 290 cons, 262 pens, 38 drop goals in 233 appearances). He is second overall to Jamie Davies, who scored 4,130 points for the ‘Wizards’. He played for Aberavon against the brilliant New Zealand MĀORIS in November 1982, scoring the six points in a 6-34 defeat. In 1981-82, nine wins in a row ended with an unlucky semi-final loss by 9-6 to Bridgend at Swansea. The media saw Aberavon as the better side and Gerald Davies writing for The Times stated that Mike Lewis had scored the try of the season, which was also the only of the game.
