New Signings Round Up

We can confirm our new signings ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Dan Baker

Position: Number 8

Age: 29

3-cap Welsh International Baker comes with a wealth of experience having played for the Ospreys and Dragons appearing 97 times between the two regions. A big ball carrier and a dynamic defender. A great signing for the ‘Wizards’.

Rhys Jones

Position: Outside Half

Age: 33

Signed from Ebbw Vale, Jones adds a huge amount of knowledge and experience to a position where knowledge is power. The ex Sale, Scarlets and Dragons player joins Aled Thomas in making that 10 shirt a very fierce one. Will get the backline moving.

Bradley Roderick

Position: Centre

Age: 20

Former Wales U20s player joins from Pontypridd after a long spell at the Ospreys academy. Roderick has got it all; pace, flair, determination and aggression – he will be a fine addition to the back line where we have lost Smith and Price.

Ben Williams

Position: Flanker

Age: 20

Signed from Gilfach Goch on a development contract but has now signed a senior contract with the club. Ben has also signed an Ospreys Academy contract and has recently been called into the Wales U20s training squad. The young flanker is strong, fit and fast – big future.

Iestyn Davies

Position: Flanker

Age: 20

Iestyn signs a development contact with Aberavon and gets his reward for the performance against RGC in April 22. The Tondu product is an abrasive flanker with bags of potential. He is rated very highly at his home club and will soon be showing his worth at his new home – the ‘Wizards’.

Morgan James

Position: Tight-head Prop

Age: 18

Brother of Geraint James and is as mobile. Has represented South Gower Youth, Ospreys U16 and Ospreys U18. Plenty to learn in the semi-professional environment for James but he sure does have the appetite to learn, grow and develop to be a long serving Aberavon player.

Gabe Lacey

Position: Centre

Age: 18

Gabe signs from Porthcawl Youth RFC and has represented Bristol Bears U18s and also Wales U18s. The young centre has some serious talent and we are looking forward to watching Gabe showcase his talents on the Talbot Athletic Ground and all over the Welsh Premiership.

Callum Carson

Position: Centre

Age: 23

Wales U18, U20 and 7s star Carson is an excellent signing for the Wizards as he will bring a whole new threat to the Wizards new attacking ethos. The ex Gowerton product comes with a wealth of experience at such a young age. This is an exciting signing for the Wizards for sure.

Liam Seaward

Position: Scrum Half

Age: 21

Seaward signs from Swansea RFC. A youngster full of dedication, ambition and energy. Seaward played his rugby with Morriston RFC and has played for Ospreys U16 and U18s. Liam will add healthy competition to the 9 shirt with Temblett and Cole. Look forward to some spark with this signing.

We are very pleased to welcome all of the new players and wish them the very best of luck. Welcome to Aberavon Rugby Club.
