The Wizards look to the future and sign three Wales U18 International players

Ahead of the 2023/24 season Aberavon Rugby Club have recruited a wealth of young talent in Hooker Saul Hurley, Flanker Kyle Harris and Utility Back Scott Delnevo. All three players featured for Wales U18 in games against Scotland, Italy and Ireland this year.

Hooker Saul Hurley, 17, is fresh out of St Peters Youth and is excited about developing at the club.

“Aberavon is where I feel I can learn the most at this time because of the experienced players and coaches,” said Hurley.

Aberavon Head Coach Jason Hyatt added.

“Saul is a bundle of energy in loose play and is very impressive at the set piece.

From the moment Saul started to attend practice sessions with ‘the Wizards’ it was obvious how dedicated he is. He has all the attributes to become a top-class Hooker.”

Scott Delnevo from Llandaff, also 17, is keen to learn and develop at the club. 

Jason Hyatt is excited about the signing of Denelvo.

“… as well as being an outstanding full back Scott is comfortable in several other positions.

Scott is a very physical player and loves to carry ball, he is an immensely talented individual who has a great energy about him.”

The physical fullback is ready to light up the Welsh Premiership next season for sure.

“I really want to improve my overall game, improve my skills and improve my game understanding, this would be a massive achievement for me in making this move,” said Scott.

Ospreys Academy product Kyle Harris hails from Treorchy and is a versatile backrow forward who can also step into the second-row position also. The 18-year-old forward is keen to prove that he can become a professional rugby player and is looking forward to making an impact at the club having signed a dual contract with the Ospreys.

Jason Hyatt commented.

“Kyle has earned a reputation at age grade as a player who thrives in open space, as well as being a quality lineout option.

As well as playing with ‘the Wizards’, Kyle will train with the Ospreys this season, this will give Kyle a great foundation to continue his all-round development.”

Kyle has already made his debut for Aberavon during the last game of the season away to Ebbw Vale.

“I will give 100% commitment to Aberavon and play to the best of my ability,” added Kyle.
